Our Vision

A Compassionate Community Of Reproducing Christ Followers.

Purpose

First Christian Church exists to glorify God (Isaiah 43:7), fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19,20), and equip people for service (Ephesians 4:11-16). Organizationally, First Christian Church strives to help individual believers to fulfill this purpose through worship (Psalm 100:4), fellowship (Hebrews 10;24, 25), biblical training and instruction (II Timothy 2:15).

Membership

The New Testament presents a picture of definable groups of people who, once committed to the Lord, Identified themselves with and committed themselves to a particular local body. In order to implement the principles of accountability and commitment in the local body of Christ, as defined in the New Testament and practiced in the early churches, First Christian Church recognizes the need for formal membership.(Hebrews 10:23-25)

We recognize that the body of Christ is composed of interdependent members, each uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of building up the body. Therefore, each believer should seek to identify, develop, and utilize his spiritual gifts and abilities and to seek a place of service within the body, taking seriously a need to reflect the New Testament principles of accountability and commitment.

Becoming A Christian

The first question asked many times is, "Why do I need to become a Christian?"

When sin entered our world it caused a separation between man and God. Choosing to do the things that are against God's guidelines is called SIN, and it is sin that separates us from Him.

There is only one way to bridge that sin gap. It is with Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the Cross, and it is because of that sacrifice that we can reunite with God.
Being a "Christian" means that you belong to Jesus Christ and follow His ways.

So how do I become a Christian?

First of all the Bible holds the answer to your question. We encourage you to read the book of Acts, which tells how others have made their choice.

Additionally, we want to share with you some other scripture that will instruct you as you consider your decision. Most Christians call this "God's Plan of Salvation."

God's Plan Of Salvation

Step 1: You must hear the good news about Jesus. (Rom. 10:14-17)

Step 2: You must believe He is who the Bible says He is. (Mark 16:16; Heb. 11:6)

Step 3: You must repent of your sins. (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38 & 17:30)

Step 4: You must publicly confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (Rom. 10:9-10)

Step 5: You must be immersed into Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3-4)

Step 6: You must continue to live a life worthy of Jesus Christ. (Col. 1:21-23; Phil. 2:12)

What denomination are you? Many people have asked to what denomination we belong. The fact is, we belong to none. Early in the nineteenth century there was unrest among the churches in America. Many denominations took the unpopular belief that the followers of Christ should lay aside the traditions of man and go back to the Church described in the New Testament. Walter Scott, James O'Kelly, Barton W. Stone, Thomas and Alexander Campbell were among the brave pioneers who advocated a discarding of all denominational names, sectarian creeds, and religious divisions. Almost simultaneously, yet without knowledge of one another, these men appealed to all sincere believers to be "Christians and Christians only." They aimed not to start another denomination, but to call people back to the Church of the New Testament. As followers of these ideals became aware of one another and began to fellowship with together, the affiliation became known as the Restoration Movement. These Christians were attempting to restore Christianity to its original, New Testament form. This today is still the plea of First Christian Church.
